What Your Day Will Look Like:
Project Engineer for Houston, TX to utilize civil engineering theories & practices to plan, design and execute engineering projects; develop engineering basis of design; review preliminary & final designs, plans, specifications, and construction estimates; develop engineering calculations & reports; ensure adherence to applicable codes & engineering standards; support construction activities; collaborate with engineers from multiple disciplines; mentor & train junior engineers and technicians. Requires Master’s in Civil Engineering or closely-related field & 2 yrs experience working on engineering projects delivered through design-bid-build and design-build methods; designing bridges in compliance with federal & state bridge design codes and guidelines, including AASHTO LRFD specifications; developing construction plans, specifications, & estimates; developing preliminary bridge schematic plans & quantities; designing bridge components, including steel girders & reinforced, pre-stressed, and post-tensioned concrete superstructures, substructures, and foundation structures; performing complex structural analysis, including strut-and-tie model & time dependent staged construction analysis; performing bridge load ratings; designing retaining walls & buried structures; and using LEAP Bridge, MDX, Midas Civil, BridgeLink PGSuper & PGSplice, LPILE, spColumn, Matlab, Mathcad, AutoCAD, LARSA, and MicroStation software packages.
